Ok, who is better in Death Note, L or Light?

I honestly liked Light at first ( he is sorta like me) because he wanted to make the world a better place, than he got too carry away from his powers and he just lost his focus, he started killing anyone that know about Kira, and he has a evil laugh :/. Now I like L a little more because he is extremely smart even without the death note, he has a major disadvantage. First of all he doesn't have a death note, so he can not have assistance. It is like putting a man with a gun versus a man without a gun. If L had a death note than he will definatilly win because he basically solved the case, just didn't finalized his result.. L also is way more better than that.. In other words if Light was just focus on killing the criminals, but then again his life could be at risk..
