Grammar (period placement) question URGENT!?

It's a MILD run-on sentence: not severely nasty.... and the period does go on the outside of the brackets, since it signifies the end of the entire sentence: the stuff inside the brackets is only a part of the whole sentence. That said, I'd use a construction where you have two sentences, or use a dash (-) instead of putting the last part in brackets.
