Splinter removal question....?

My first question would be, have you been obsessing over this splinter? I know it sounds like a silly question but sometimes when something is bothering a person, they tend to pay attention to it more which kind of sounds like what you're doing. When you inspect it, peel off skin and squeeze it really hard, then you are more likely to make it hurt by irritating it. I would suggest going to your local pharmacy and buying some antibiotic ointment and gauze bandages with tape. It is quite possible that there is still a piece of thorn in there, but it is also possible that the thorn poked you so deeply, that it is going to take a little bit longer for the deeper tissues to heal. Also, when our body has something as small as a piece of wood stuck in our skin, it uses its forces to work the object out itself. So my suggestion basically would be to wait around a week or so with it. You should make sure that you put ointment on it every day and also maybe some peroxide. Always keep it covered with gauze except for at night when you are not working with your hands. Good luck, and hopefully it will heal on its own. If not, then check for free clinics around your area, or even ask a friend of a friend of a friend if they know a doctor that might be able to help you out.
